Too sensitive?

Who can relate?

Haha!

There have been people that are very easily triggered by me “being Rick” in ways that I consciously have looked at and don’t want to try and change outside certain adaptations. So, yeah, they are “too sensitive… for ME”.

I am definitely “too sensitive” in ways as I decide, meaning I get triggered by, for example, a honking horn in ways that flood my system. I’d really prefer to be less sensitive, it feels “over the top” to ME.

That said, if someone ELSE said, “You’re too sensitive about honking horns, Rick!” – well, they would find out how sensitive I really CAN be to personal attacks on my sensitivity!

I sure understand being “too” sensitive and it can really hurt my sensitivity with honking horns and other insensitive noises. Hmm, what’s an Insensitive noise? I can think of a few.

Today Adira who was playing in the other room dumped a HUGE basket of plastic foods onto the ground and down the two steps in that room.

My primitive brain doesn’t know the sound of plastic. In knows grows, hisses, screams for help, and the like. So the initial reaction was “more sensitive than needed” because, well, I care about her safety and ours!

The second interpretation is, yeah, she’s playing. But it is “expensive” to be activated and then let go because it wasn’t actually a threat/need sound.

Same with honking. Heck, same with leaf blowers! What is that evil sound?!? Has the dragon returned?!?

That is a noisy picture that would make me cringe if it was in my yard.
