Help me re-Build

It’s time to re-Build. I am asking you to help me do that, if it is a YES for you.

It has been a growing awareness inside me for months. It’s time to Build. With the devastation not only in Asheville (my family’s home) but in other places in the world, too, it’s time to re-Build as well.

Do I know exactly what that looks like? No. Because it is meant to be Sourced from those who want to contribute from their own heartistry.

We of the Freedom Kin are positioned — through the healing we’ve done, the real skills we’re learning, and the values we share — to co-create what is essential for Thriving… Now and Onwards.

So I have two Ask’s right now:

(1) Share with me to help guide me energy: What are you yearning to build and grow that will cultivate heart-centered thriving for yourself and others? Answer that here, if you would:

(2) As we move forward, your engagement and reflections are immensely helpful! (One circle member the other day sent me an email quoting just one line I’d shared with a simple note: “This is meaning a lot to me this week.” So helpful to me!)

Whether replying by email or in the community center or social media, the rare specific feedback I get helps steer the energy for all of us. Engagers matter! It’s one of the aspects of thriving I want to build and re-build.

Maybe neither of these will be what you do. If you are in the midst of focused Healing, yes, we continue to have resources for that essential part of Life.

I just KNOW, in my heart and soul, that the Builders Matter in the segment of human evolution to come. Amidst dysfunctions, can we bring emotional savvy and hearty optimism? Yes. Yes, We Can.

To do that, well, support is essential. I see that in the crisis recovery in Asheville. I know it’s profoundly true in trauma recovery — we’re meant to heal and grow resilience in connection with other safe, Present, and regulated hearts.

For building, we will hit challenges we will need to Rise into. Together that’s easier. New technologies are becoming available. We can apply emotional technology like EFT Tapping to restore calm confidence — always essential when building.

And there’s another aspect I’ve noticed: when we are building together, sharing space with someone else who is feeling for their YES helps us to know our own YES… is such a beautiful experience. It happens over and over again in our circle sessions.

Does this appeal to you? How so?

Do you have questions? Please ask.

And if you are ready to do some building and re-building together, you are encouraged to share that here:

Appreciate You! My inbox is open!

L shared this by email:

When I consider the word rebuild, I thought more of simply starting with what is and building something new. The word rebuild struck me as I thought about rebuilding my life and I thought no I don’t want to rebuild what was, I want to start here and build whatever it is I choose right now

And this is precisely my own internal feeling about Re-Building. Thanks L!

Our body is constantly rebuilding. It is fashioning itself to reflect “what’s NOW” in terms of resources, imperatives, and desires. Exciting to me to reflect this into the emotional world, especially the energy we want to bring to the We-Spaces we share.

Saw this this morning. I’ve had such healing times at Hot Springs. They always kept it affordable. As they embark on this, referring to it as Hot Springs 6.0 reflects that re-Building offers opportunities – and is a sacred trust.

Hi - I shared my idea’s for what I want to rebuild by email, but it feels right to share some of this dialogue here as well - both my challenges & Rick’s creative responses. Hoping it will spark some dialogue of what others are working on, and that we can all feel more supported in growing & healing together.

I am yearning to build:
better health and energy for myself

It matters to me because:
I want to have energy to thrive and not just survive, and do my art & writing / creative processes (not just all work & rest most of the time).

Rick wrote back:

YES! Better health and energy for yourself.

#1 Expressions - What matters to you to express into the world creatively? Could be tangible like drawing or intangible like kindness. My invitation is to make a Menu of Five.

#2 Microdoses - Let’s say you have Adira with you for 3 minutes and wanted to do together each of the Menu of Five. What is the super simple fun way to do those? You might even get a few ideas for each.

#3 Put Energy into What Matters - I’m guessing if you do that, you’ll find that 1-2 have more draw to you, and if you imagine having DONE them, you’d feel Good Feelings… feelings with energy. Those would be the ones to build into your life. With devotion because they matter, grounded in that.

If this “just can’t happen” then perhaps we can tap on it on a circle call?

Or… maybe your creativity will show you other options even MORE juicy sweet for you!

I really like all of these ideas and need time to ponder them more. I’ll share what comes up for me later. One idea is just to go for a nature walk and gather some interesting sticks and other items to make a quick 3 minute craft of some kind.

I hope others will share what they are going through and how they are rebuilding.

Thanks: Shelley

P.S. Went for a little leaf crunching walk after I wrote this and discovered these treasures. Not sure what I will make yet, but this pile on the floor is making me happy…

P.S. I know some of you are rebuilding after the hurricane, so I don’t mean to be insensitive or too light hearted in the face of so much tragedy. In fact, I hardly even know what to say at all - there are no words, really. I am incredibly grateful that my online friends, Rick & Jean did not pass to the other side as I first feared. I hope we have many more healing adventures to share in the circle of life.

Aren’t those wise words! The picture of them makes me happy, too! Nice to see color in the leaves. Cali weather is gorgeous… and super dry right now. The redwoods give some solace, ancient reminders of resilience.

And… my home has falltime and leaves – even if so many trees are downed and leaves blown off. Still, I long to see them so much. Just not enough to endure non-drinkable water with 2 kids!

Thanks for sharing, and yes, helping us re-build. ~Rick

Decided to stop “pondering” these questions that you asked, Rick, and just write what comes to me off the top of my head:

Expressions - What matters to you to express in the world creatively?

  1. Kindness
  2. Art that uplifts
  3. A sense of adventure & aliveness
  4. self-love / self-kindness
  5. art & writing that celebrates humanness and embraces both the dark & light of life (no spiritual/emotional bypassing)

Micro-Doses - "Let’s say you have Adira with you for 3 minutes and wanted to do together each of the menu of five? What is the simple, fun way to do these?

1.(a) A sense of adventure & aliveness: pretend Adira & I are on the bus together and we are playing an energetic game to notice and sense people (or maybe even trees, animals, and nature) that have a feeling/sense of aliveness and adventure.
1.(b) Ask for healing dreams or short stories/children’s books that give us this feeling of adventure & aliveness.

2.(a) Art that Uplifts - morning altars
2. (b) 3 min. release writing + 3 min. prayer flags stitching (or make sounds for 3 min. instead of writing)

  1. (a) Kindness - Notice all the ways I naturally express kindness daily (but usually tend to dismiss)
3.(b) Notice all the ways others are kind to me (which I tend to miss or dismiss)

  2. (a) Self-Love/Self-Kindness: Ask the self-kindness angels & diva’s to help me at work (to counteract self-meanness pattern)
4.(b) Ask future self (who has learned self-kindness) how to choose & create this energy more in my daily life now…

  3. Art & writing that celebrates humanness & embraces both the dark & light (no spiritual or emotional bypassing):
    (a) Draw Sugar Skulls together with Adira & color them in
    (b) Read books with this theme in mind. Cut out little clips of words & phrases that are meaningful in this regard, and stick them on my big bulletin board.
    (c) Halloween fun - watch some halloween shows & cartoons
    (d) Let Adira help me to write & draw a young children’s book “Jewel & the Purple Dragon” keep it simple, fun & easy (permission to keep it light and no pressure for it to be “really good” at all - just play…)
    (e) Make an altar for connection with ancestors (like Mexican’s do on day of the dead).

Put Energy into what Matters: I’m guessing if you do that, you’ll find you have 1 - 2 that have more draw to you, and if you imagine having done them, you’d feel good feelings…feelings with energy. Those would be the ones to build into you life. With devotion because they matter, grounded in that…

  1. Sense of Adventure & aliveness - getting the sense that exploring this energy is priority and it will lead into more self-love & self-kindness in the long run, but to begin with adventure/aliveness focus will open something up that I’ve been missing…I’ll let you know how it goes…

  2. Art that uplifts (but keep it simple & easy; I tend to make it too hard & complicated)- maybe I will keep making the morning altars for now…

Thanks

Oh she’d love that! And the sugar skulls.

Notice that you’re already influencing others. Your clarity, intention, and connections have Norene making an altar on the beach, and WE get to enjoy them, too! I’ve felt connected to my fall leaves AND the beach.

We as humans have this notion of hierarchy. Honestly, these morning altars mean more to me that the Mona Lisa. I know, I’m weird, but I’d rather live in a world where heartistry is expressed like that then one where we’re all in a line to view a painting behind bulletproof glass. Just saying…

Off to the aquarium in Monterey this morning. Going to see lots of altars people who care have crafted – and the animals have, too. Lov you Thank you!

Thanks Rick. Hope you enjoyed the aquarium. :purple_heart:

We did! Amazing experience for us all. I particularly loved all the nature just OUTSIDE the aquarium all around the bay, visible from the decks.

Glad to hear you all enjoyed yourselves, and that the nature was inspiring.

I’ve been meaning to make another morning altar, but haven’t quite gotten around to it yet. In the meantime, here is the view outside my window…

An exchange from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien on moving forward despite the difficulties we face:

Frodo: “I wish none of this had happened.”

Gandalf: “So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
